 Prof. Hiroaki Matsubara and his team from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, Japan have for the first time in the nation used stem cells to repair damaged heart by transplanting the cells along with a special type of gelatinous sheet containing protein to encourage growth and reproduction of the heart muscle cells. For the first time, Scientists at Keel University will conduct a trial on 70 patients with arthritic knees by the end of this year. This trial will employ Chondrocytes and bone marrow stem cells from the patients own body to treat Osteoarthritis.
