On the 3rd of November 2006, the first General body meeting of the German Stem Cell Society (GSS) unanimously decided to support this effort of JSRM and JSRM would therefore become the official organ of the GSS.

The general body meeting was conducted beside the First Annual Meeting of the GSS, held in the Conference Centre of Klinikum Merheim in the city of Cologne, Germany on the 3rd and 4th November in which totally 125 scientific topics in the form of oral and poster presentations were made by Stem Cell scientists and clinicians from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Japan and Russia

Before that the ideology behind and plans as well as policies of the JSRM were presented in brief to the General body members. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Jurgen Heschler, the president of the GSS and co-chaired by other members of the executive committee of the GSS.
