The Peer Review Process
Authors may submit manuscripts online and they are kept informed about the progress by communication to the corresponding author. Editors can manage the whole submission/review/revise/publish process.
All submitted manuscripts are reviewed and scrutinized initially by the office of the editor.
Manuscripts are evaluated according to the following criteria:
- Originality of the Material
- Clarity in Writing
- Appropriateness of the Language and Style
- Validity and logic of the Study methods, data and the statistical methods
- Support of the Conclusion by reasonable data
- Significance of the information from the readers perspective
- Compliance of the manuscript with the focus and scope of the journal.
Manuscripts satisfying the above criteria are sent for formal peer-review to usually three reviewers, but sometimes more in special circumstances. The office of the editor then make a decision based on the reviewers' advice, from among several possibilities:
- Accept, with or without editorial revisions
- Accept with Modifications
- Reject but with indication that authors can re-submit the article after revision
- Reject outright
Peer reviewer identities and author identities are kept confidential.
The manuscript under review is not revealed to anyone other than peer reviewers and editorial staff. Reviewers, whose names are not disclosed to the authors, will study all contributions, which the editor sends for peer review after considering them to be of sufficient significance and interest.
Normally all articles submitted in full compliance with the guidelines for submission are subjected to an initial scrutiny by the office of editor taking seven working days following which the manuscripts which conform to the guidelines are sent for peer review.
The process of review takes nearly 6-8 weeks before a decision is reached which is then conveyed to the corresponding author.
When a resubmission after revision by the authors is warranted, the office of the editor will interact with the reviewers to arrive at a final decision on the manuscript.
